2007 Travel Schedule (10/31/07)

Wed 10/31/07 - Having a lot of fun making my new Facebook & Tribe.Net pages. I finally started a blog on my Tribe.Net page. Also posted two new Camp Fareta photo albums at Facebook.
   (1) Mariama Camera's Doundounba class (a drum dance) Tue 7/10/07 - 32 photos (Facebook)
   (2) M'Ma Toure's class (african dance...forgot which kind) Wed 7/11/07 - 56 photos (Facebook)
   (3) Photo Gallery (no new pics since 7/31) - 130 photos (Webpage)

Some other new Camp Fareta photo albums:
   (A) Debbie's album - 76 pictures (Snapfish)
   (B) Christina's album - 81 pictures (Webpage)

Note: Facebook & Snapfish require membership to see the photo albums. Tribe.net can be viewed without registering.
If you move your cursor over the Facebook photos, names will pop up for people who have been "tagged" (identified).

Camp Fareta 2007 news:

Christina writes "Youssouf will be back in California for the November conference (San Francisco African Drum & Dance Festival), and after the conference he and Fode will be traveling around a bit, teaching in a few places."
Here's the tentative schedule:

   Monday evening, November 12 -- Bryceland/Garberville area
Tuesday evening, November 13 -- TBA -- Oakland or Mendocino
Wednesday daytime, November 14 -- probably a school in Oakland
Thursday evening, November 15 -- Grass Valley/Nevada City
Friday morning, November 16, a school in Chico
   Friday evening -- Oakland
Saturday and Sunday, November 17-18 -- Santa Cruz

Tue 10/23/07 - Welcome! Haven't operated a personal webpage since 1998, when I removed my 50 MB site at UCLA because it was taking up too (!) much space. Thanks also to Emily for encouraging me to get my butt in gear and create a new Facebook profile. Maybe I can find time for Tribe.Net, MySpace.com, Yelp.com, Friendster.com, Linkedin.com, etc... before 2017??

The main photo album currently only has Camp Fareta 2007 photos. Hopefully I'll have time to add Congo Camp 2007, Earthdance 2007, and other recent travels soon. In the words of my favorite author, "My, my. A body does get around."

Majesty of the Seas - our huge cruiseship with 2,400 passengers & 800 staff (Thu 10/17/07). Margaret (sister) waving at the Miami port as we take off on our first cruise - a 4-day Carribean cruise I won in Las Vegas, shortly before I was banned for life from two casino chains! (Mon 10/15/07)

Terry's smooth & creamy Key Lime Pie in Fort Lauderdale, the best food I had during our entire Bahamas cruise. The Key Lime pie in Florida is totally unlike the artificial junk served elsewhere in the country. It has a creamy texture, almost like a cheesecake. (Sat 10/13/07)
Eric (brother, 3rd from left) & Margaret (sister, 6th from left) at the Dragon Boat Festival award ceremony. I had picked up a cold that morning, and missed the races while sleeping in until 2 pm at our hotel, the 4* Royal Palm. We nabbed $340 oceanview rooms for $105 by bidding Priceline and getting a free $50 room upgrade from a nice hotel check-in attendant. (Sun 10/14/07) Our family lined up for the mandatory safety drill onboard the Majesty of the Seas. (Mon 10/15/07)
Well I ended up watching movies in my stateroom & sleeping most of the trip. Didn't see Nassau, Bahamas, but I did manage to ride this shuttle-boat to Cococay, Bahamas, and walk around for 30 minutes. ;-) This is a view of the Cococay pier as we are docking. (Wed 10/17/07) ...and a view of our ship from the Cococay beaches. (Wed 10/17/07)
Our cruiseship landed on the commercial side of the island, with thousands of beach chairs everywhere, but I had just enough time to walk towards the undeveloped areas of Cococay. Maybe next time I'll be able to explore more.

How to reach me...

tsai@cs.ucla.edu is a lifetime forwarding e-mail. All my e-mail accounts go to the same place.

Depending on location, I may not be on the Internet for a week (when camping, overseas, or anywhere where Internet is very expensive). Usually, it's best to leave both a phone message and an e-mail.
